New Album by The Observatory - Dark Folkeby roadburn on 01 Jul 2009
The Observatory releases it’s 4th album, recorded and mixed earlier this year in Bergen Norway. “Dark Folke” was produced by friend and respected producer Jørgen Træen who has also worked with some of our personal favourites like Ultralyd, Motorpsycho and Jaga Jazzist. The “Dark Folke” album packaging is a hardbound black book, designed and drawn by Justin Bartlett. Printed on paper constituted from recovered waste and virgin pulp from good sustainable forestry, the album heralds a new shape in the band’s discography of albums. It is now not only… read more... It’s been a surreal day.. and weird coincidence? I just deleted all my Michael Jackson mp3 from my iPhone last night (why I have MJ’s tunes on my player is another story), and just a few hours later in the morning, I get a SMS about his early departure. The number 50 has significance too. He was scheduled to perform 50 shows in the upcoming London, but now he’s gone at 50. Rest in peace MJ, thanks for the tunes in the 80s & 90s http://www.mtvasia.com/News/200906/26018178.html Buy a Gibson Goddess, Help a Girlby roadburn on 23 Jun 2009
I just saw an unusual posting in the audioreload forums today, someone selling her Gibson Goddess in order to donate the money to help a little 4 year old girl Charmaine in her battle with cancer. My heart goes out to Charmaine and her Mom who needs to raise US$350,000 for just the initial treatment. Find out more about the Gibson Goddess for sale. Aimee Mann, NIN, Lady Gaga Concerts in Singaporeby roadburn on 20 Jun 2009
A great year for gigs in Singapore! I’ve just been watching Aimee Mann YouTube videos deciding whether to go for the Aimee Mann gig or not. August alone is going to blow a big hole in concert goers pockets with the likes of NIN, Lady Gaga and Aimee Mann. It wouldn’t been a question at all if I hadn’t already spent $108.93 (including GST + $1 mailing charges) without even blinking to see and feel Trent Reznor’s intensity ‘Live’ at Fort Canning Park. Wah shoik right? I only have to walk 15min after work to watch Nine Inch Nails perform. Just tell me, how good is that? I already feel like all these famous people are coming here specially to perform for my enjoyment. I haven’t decided yet if Lady Gaga or Aimee Mann wins my hard earned dollars, especially in these times when being cheapskate has actually become a virtue. Who would you choose? Amanda Ling Leaves Electricoby desensitized on 08 Jun 2009
It’s official: according to the Straits Times, Amanda Ling has left Electrico, leaving the group down to the trio of Dave Tan, William Lim Jr and Desmond Tan. Last year, I’d written about Daniel Sassoon’s departure, and noted how the band managed to cope with their loss with Amanda stepping up to the plate and filling in the gap — which I felt she’d done a really good job of. Now that she’s gone, I wonder how Electrico will be able to cope. Rosli Mansor: The Journey of "Deeper Than Purple"by admin on 07 Jun 2009
